THESE HISTORIC SOUTHERN HOUSE PORTRAITS ARE HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL
When you imagine beautiful portraits of large spacious homes in America, where does your mind take you? Mississippi? Us too! Yes, that's sarcasm but it's also becoming the truth. A young talented photographer from way down south is to thank. Although only visiting these days, Brenton Little makes the most of his time upon arrival.
When thinking of the South in general, beautiful history doesn't exactly come to mind. But Brenton is looking to change that, if only for a brief moment. Growing up in Mississippi with a love for music and art, his creative passions steered him in a direction that would lead him to live a life seeking beauty all over the country. With only a few photos in this series he let's us peer into a small window of his past while taking us way back in time to revisit some of the earliest times of his old stomping grounds.
In early 2016 he displayed a fascinating spread of some of the most eerily beautiful homes–some dating back to the 1850s–that he called Historic House Portrait, or #historichouseportrait on Instagram. Short but definitely sweet this series captured these homes as if they were stuck in time, taking us back there with them.
One of these houses is The Merrehope, in Meridian. It's a large 26 bedroom Victorian built in 1858 (by Richard McLemore for his daughter) and is one of only two homes that are actually open to the public. If you're thinking it looks like something out of a cheesy horror flick you wouldn't be far off. Not only is it steeped in rich history from the Civil War it also includes it's own hauntings that you can go experience for yourself.
Brenton has a way of finding beauty in almost everything he chooses to point at. He has a eye for framing in a way that makes you feel like you're standing there seeing, smelling and hearing everything he is. We're just glad he got out of there before the sun went down.
These aren't your parent's engagement photos. A wedding/engagement photographer that will make your love seem as gritty as you want. No one does it like Sean.
So this photographer's name is Felix Kuswardi, he shoots food in the most minimal, non glutinous way imaginable yet I still get hungry just flipping through.
WILDERNESS COLLECTIVE
Wilderness Collective allows any group of adventurous (also being rich helps) people who want to go find themselves in the great outdoors. They always come back with great stories and even better photos.
Nathan takes photos of his fun animated characters and scenes not leaving any detail to the imagination. Amazing what this guy can do with some kid's colored pencils and markers.
